Avondale is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course in the Vernon Bridge area of PEI. Only about 20 minutes east of Charlottetown, this 6768-yard championship golf course weaves through a beautiful woodland area, providing a mix of both links-style holes and forested holes. Avondale can be a challenging course, with many strategically placed sand bunkers bordering the rolling fairways. But with four sets of tees available, it’s suited to groups of all skill levels. The golf course hosts many tournaments throughout the season and was the host of the 2022 PEI Amateur Championship.
The golf course is also home to the Dave Bowlan Golf Academy, with private lessons and clinics for aspiring golfers to learn the full golf swing, how to improve their short game and even about course management. Many of Dave's students have gone on to play US College golf, which is a testament to his expertise and teaching capabilities. Plus, with practice bunkers and greens, and a double-ended driving range, Avondale has some of the best training facilities around.
They also have a full-service bar and restaurant on-site for grabbing a snack or drink pre or post-game to enjoy the tranquil settings. Avondale is also one of the best value golf courses on the entire island, so it won’t break the bank.
