At the north-western end of Lake Joseph, next to the Rocky Crest Resort you’ll find the Rocky Crest Golf Club. This private, Clublink course was designed by Thomas Mcbroom and opened in 2000. It’s situated within a lush forest of white birch, pines and hemlocks atop the Canadian Sheild, for which the course got its name. Thomas McBroom highlights the granite of the shield, which makes an appearance throughout most of the course, adding extra character to each hole. Rather than cover up the rock, it was uncovered during the construction process and used to shape the design of the fairways and greens. Rocky Crest is a classic 18-hole, par 72 course that measures 6,850 yards from the back tees, and 5139 from the front tees, making it accessible for all players.
It’s received many recognitions over the years, including the best new golf course in Canada, and also received top rankings for the best course of the modern era, the best course in Canada and top courses to play in Canada. On-site, you’ll find On The Green Bistro, where you can grab lunch or dinner after your game. The vaulted ceilings of the clubhouse and flagstone patio were designed to perfectly represent Ontario's cottage country. The course itself is part of Rocky Crest Resort, which has luxury suites, additional dining options and a spa, making it a great location for a stay-and-play golf trip.
