Long recognized as the most popular golf course on the Island, this picturesque garden and river course offers six par 3′s, six par 4′s and six par 5′s. Broad fairways and manicured greens are accented by numerous gardens, lakes and ponds. Built in 1969 by renowned Canadian course architect Robbie Robinson, this nationally acclaimed layout is a local and traveler’s favorite. No stranger to accolades, this course cracked the SCOREGolf Top 100 courses in Canada rankings from 2000 – 2008.

Reachable par 5’s, stern par 4’s and exacting short holes will bring you through vast stands of trees, stunning shorelines and tranquil wetlands. A place that golfers of all abilities will truly enjoy, many will have a chance for a career round on this most pleasurable shot-maker’s routing.

Signature holes #5 and #10 are special, two par 3’s that run alongside the river. Hole #12 and Hole #17 are greatly designed holes, a par 4 and a par 5 that fit like a glove in Robinson’s natural design. Hole #4 is one of the course’s most memorable, a sharp dogleg left par 5 that finishes with a downhill shot to a green that can potentially be reached in two with the beautiful backdrop of the river on your approach shot. 

Located 40 mins east of Downtown Charlottetown, Dundarave is designed by the renowned team of Michael Hurdzan / Dana Fry who’s designs have been prolific across North America (Devil’s Paintbrush, Devil’s Pulpit, Le Diable, Georgian Bay Club just to name a few). Their only design on the Island of Prince Edward Island has received numerous accolades, most recently being ranked as the #38 public golf course in Canada (SCOREGolf, 2021).

Expansive, tree-lined fairways at Dundarave lead to large, cleverly contoured greens protected by red sanded bunkers, unique to this course and characteristic of PEI’s red soils. The 18 holes meander through some of the most stunning terrain on the island. Some holes play in open meadow, another section is in woods, a stretch wind along the river’s edge and several holes run up and down hills and skirt pond and wetlands. Stunning and exciting!

The fairways have been carved through acres of pine forest so golfers stand on every tee box isolated from the rest of the course. Don’t think the trees completely negate the effects of an ever-prevalent wind, however, as many of the greens are laid out on exposed sites beside the Brudenell River where unexpected gusts can suddenly whip in off the water.

Signature holes #17 feels like the perfect PEI golf hole from the tee, with a beautiful PEI countryside backdrop and the popping red-sand bunkers protecting the green. Hole #18 again has a great PEI golf feel and is a great finishing hole. Holes #5 and #8 on the front are exceptional holes, and hole #9 is a doozy of a tee shot.

PEI’s highest ranked golf course and flagship course, this Thomas McBroom oceanside masterpiece is recognized as the #16 public golf course in Canada (SCOREGolf, 2021). The course has been the Island’s must-play since it opened in 1994, when it was instantly recognized by Golf Digest as Canada’s Best New Course for that year. Undulating fairways, water holes with a wisp of wind, pot bunkers, challenging greens, stunning ocean views, and the island’s best conditioning all come together to provide you with an experience not to be forgotten, setting the gold standard for golf on PEI. The engaging layout and architecture features several inland holes (front 9) complemented by some gorgeous coastal holes (back 9). 

Keep in mind, the location of the course near the ocean lends itself to some windy conditions which can put some serious teeth in layout. The windy location and sod stacked bunkers add to the links feels of the course while the tree lined inland holes remind you that you’re in Canada.

Designed by one of North America’s most renowned firms Coore & Crenshaw, Cabot Cliffs has been renowned since before it even opened. The anticipation was well deserved, as this course has been regarded as one of the world’s finest since it opened its doors in 2015.

This true links course occupies a diverse landscape, sitting atop the bluffs that overlook the Gulf of St Lawrence, with fairways that transition between woodland, wetland and meadowland areas. Somewhat unusually, but also adding to the playability and enjoyment, the layout is configured with six par threes, six par fours, and six par fives.

Hole 16 is the most notable hole on the course, but also perhaps one of the most notable holes in all of Canada. A par 3 to remember for all time, playing across the edge of the cliffs above the shoreline. Not to be outdone, the final 3 holes are regarded as one of the best 3 hole finishing stretches in golf.

Notable: The golf course that started it all for Cabot! Opened in 2012, Cabot Links was immediately heralded as a special course by golfing pundits from around the globe. Canada’s first true links course, Cabot Links is ranked #5 course in Canada by SCOREGolf (2022), and ranked #35 on Golf Digest’s 100 Greats Golf Courses.

Hole 14 is a notable hole for Links. Measuring in at 102 yards from the back markers, you’ll be playing downhill to an infinity green that’s totally exposed to the elements.

Notable: Halifax’s highest ranked course, this Thomas McBroom design will undoubtedly impress. Built in 2015, Brunello received immediate praise voted the 3rd Best New Golf Course in North America by Golf Digest. More recently, it was ranked #51 Public Course in Canada by SCOREGolf (2021). There is a strong visual appeal to the course with the light green colored bentgrass tees, fairways, and greens delivering a nice contrast to the dark green bluegrass rough, white sand bunkers, and earth toned stones.

Immaculate conditions, and a rugged design that might remind you of McBroom’s Muskoka designed golf courses, this golf course is beautiful and challenging, but beware, you will only score well here if you make smart decisions off every tee box.  Shots that leave the fairway will likely result in a lost ball due to the thick foliage and challenging terrain that frame the holes. Highlight holes include the par three 2nd, played downhill across a canyon to a shallow, offset green and the par four 11th, rising gently to a green that tilts markedly from back to front.
