This one is a hidden gem in Niagara, one that gets more appreciation every time you play it. Designed by C.E Robinson in the 1960’s, this course might be one of his best. A student of Stanley Thompson, Robinson’s strengths always were in designing a course using the lay of the land, fully utilizing the land’s natural features. This track is nestled on top of the Niagara escarpment so the piece of land is some of the most interesting in the area, and Robinson took full advantage incorporating dramatic elevation changes, multi-tiered greens and mature trees into the course that help distinguish it as one-of-a-kind for the Niagara region.

Perhaps the most popular (and most photographed) golf course in all of Niagara, Legends on the Niagara Battlefield course is a crowd favourite designed by legendary architect Doug Carrick.
The Battlefield course weaves through majestic Oak woodlands, across gently rolling plains and around two expansive man-made lakes that present classic risk & reward options on 7 holes (7th, 8th , 9th , 11th , 16th , 17th & 18th). The design is truly unique, made up of an interesting blend of lakeside holes, links-style holes bordered by tall fescue, and a handful of secluded holes surrounded by mature Carolinian forest. The golf course features spacious sweeping fairways, intricate bunkering (lots of it) and large subtly contoured greens that enhance the visual and strategic character of the course.
Highlight holes on the front nine include two par-4’s in Hole 2 and 4, where you might get spooked by the imposing bunkers visible off the tee. On the back, two par-3 holes offer challenge and ingenuity, from the heavily sand-protected 14th to the carry-over-water 17th, a hole that leaves no room for error. Both Hole #9 (toughest hole on the course) and Hole #18 (6th toughest hole on the course) get high marks for beauty, playing into the stunning Clubhouse with the 19-acre lake coming into play the entire way. Hole 18 is definitely the signature hole, and one of the top closing holes in the province.
The entire experience at Legends on the Niagara is top shelf. Exceptional golf courses designed by the game’s best, great conditions, hospitable and friendly staff, a grand Clubhouse worthy of a top golf destination, Legends on the Niagara is the centerpiece / crown jewel of golf in Niagara. Featuring 2 full championship 18 hole courses designed by Canada’s two preeminent golf course architects Tom McBroom and Doug Carrick, a 9 hole academy course, 360° driving range and spectacular clubhouse facilities, every golf trip to Niagara needs to play here.
Notable: Battlefield has been recognized by Beyond the Contour rankings as #102 public course in Canada. The course has hosted many significant tournaments over the years, most notably the the 2004 LPGA Canadian Women’s Open, won by Meg Mallon. Of historical significance, and where the golf course gathers its namesake, the course is aptly named for the historic battleground from the War of 1812 that flanks its fourth hole.
