Day 1
Radisson Fallsview Hotel & Suites is all about location. Located on the Fallsview Blvd side of town, closest to the newer casino, this hotel puts you right in the heart of the action.
The rooms are comfortable, what you can expect from a branded hotel. The hotel features an indoor heated pool (no hot tub) and fitness room for guest use, as well as an on-site restaurant at Turtle Jack’s, a great restaurant with reasonable prices.
Day 2
This one is a hidden gem in Niagara, perhaps the best course in the area you’ve never heard of. Designed by C.E Robinson in the 1960’s, this course might be one of his best. A student of Stanley Thompson, Robinson’s strengths always were in designing a course using the lay of the land, fully utilizing the land’s natural features. This track is nestled on top of the Niagara escarpment so the piece of land is some of the most interesting in the area, and Robinson took full advantage incorporating dramatic elevation changes, multi-tiered greens and mature trees into the course that help distinguish it as one-of-a-kind for the Niagara region.
Day 3
Perhaps the most popular (and most photographed) golf course in all of Niagara, Legends on the Niagara Battlefield course is a crowd favourite designed by legendary architect Doug Carrick.
The Battlefield course weaves through majestic Oak woodlands, across gently rolling plains and around two expansive man-made lakes that present classic risk & reward options on 7 holes (7th, 8th , 9th , 11th , 16th , 17th & 18th). The design is truly unique, made up of an interesting blend of lakeside holes, links-style holes bordered by tall fescue, and a handful of secluded holes surrounded by mature Carolinian forest. The golf course features spacious sweeping fairways, intricate bunkering (lots of it) and large subtly contoured greens that enhance the visual and strategic character of the course.
The entire experience at Legends on the Niagara is top shelf. Exceptional golf courses designed by the game’s best, great conditions, hospitable and friendly staff, a grand Clubhouse worthy of a top golf destination, Legends on the Niagara is the centerpiece / crown jewel of golf in Niagara. Featuring 2 full championship 18 hole courses designed by Canada’s two preeminent golf course architects Tom McBroom and Doug Carrick, a 9 hole academy course, 360° driving range and spectacular clubhouse facilities, every golf trip to Niagara needs to play here.
Notable: Battlefield has been recognized by Beyond the Contour rankings as #102 public course in Canada. The course has hosted many significant tournaments over the years, most notably the the 2004 LPGA Canadian Women’s Open, won by Meg Mallon. Of historical significance, and where the golf course gathers its namesake, the course is aptly named for the historic battleground from the War of 1812 that flanks its fourth hole.
Day 3
Challenging and breathtaking, Legends on the Niagara Ussher’s Creek is special to experience. From the drive up to the grand Clubhouse, to the friendly greetings you receive from hospitable staff, to the exceptional design and conditions of the course, the experience is A+ from start to finish.
Designed by celebrated architect Thomas McBroom, this course is an instant classic. “Play the land as it lies” is a philosophy in all of McBroom’s designs, and Ussher’s Creek accomplishes this to a tee. Featuring thick stands of deciduous trees, wetland hazards, knee-high fescue rough, the namesake Ussher’s Creek coming into play on half of the holes, and impeccable conditioning from tee to green, Ussher’s Creek is a classic parkland course. The course meanders through the massive 1,000 acre property such that one rarely sees adjacent holes, giving a real sense of privacy and isolation. True to McBroom designs, playability is an important feature with generous fairways a nice, player-friendly touch.
Ussher’s Creek has been recognized by Beyond the Contour rankings as #100 public course in Canada. Ussher’s Creek is part of the Legends on the Niagara complex, the centerpiece / crown jewel of golf in Niagara. Every golf tour must play at least one of the Legends courses. The 45-hole complex features 2 full championship 18 hole courses, a 9 hole academy course, 360° driving range and spectacular clubhouse facilities. The two championship courses are designed by Canada’s two preeminent golf course architects, with Thomas McBroom designing Ussher’s Creek and Doug Carrick designing Battlefield.
