Bell Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course located in Baddeck on Cape Breton Island. It covers 7037 yards (from the back tee), overlooking Baddeck Bay on Bra’s d’Or Lake, with beautiful views of the water and the surrounding mountains. The course was designed by Thomas McBroom and opened in 1997, with the back nine touted as one fo the best closing holes in Canada. During it’s first year of opening it received the title of Best New Course in Canada from Golf Digest, and and also been ranked in the top 5 courses on the east coast by SCOREGolf.
Bell Bay has hosted many golf championships over the years including the Canadian Amateur Championship, Cape Breton Open and Canadian Club Champions Championship. But as challenging as the course is, it’s not just limited to the pros. Bell Bay has it’s own golf academy with a driving range, putting greens and chipping areas for less experienced golfers to practice and warm up. Plus, there are five tee boxes, making the course itself accessible to all levels. The course is well-maintained, with pristine fairways and fast greens that break to the water. has a Halfway Hut, offering snacks and beverages, along with a beverage cart that makes its rounds to serve up drinks.
