Deerhurst Highlands

Deerhurst Resort is one of the most popular resorts in the Muskoka region. Located between Peninsula Lake and Fairy Lake, only about 6km outside of Huntsville, the resort features a conference center, luxury accommodations, multiple pools and dining options and the Deerhurst Highlands golf course. This 18-hole, par 72 championship course was designed by golf architects Robert Cupp and Thomas McBroom back in 1990, putting the Muskoka region on the map as a Canadian golf hotspot. This challenging course has dramatic shifts in the landscape and no shortage of rocky outcroppings to accidentally bounce your ball off, so precision is key. The course has been ranked as one of the top 59 golf courses in Canada by SCOREGolf and gives all golfers the opportunity to pay-as-you-play but with a private club feel.

Deerhurst Highland's main course measures 7,011 yards from the back tees, so you’ll need some heavy-hitting shots to do well on this course. There is also a shorter course bordering Peninsula Lake if you want more recreational-style gameplay or the opportunity to sharpen your skills before playing the main course. The Highlands Clubhouse is at The Antler Steakhouse, which is a rustic log house restaurant that looks out over the canal between Peninsula and Fairy Lake. They feature local cuisine and a campfire on their outdoor patio, and it’s a great place to grab a meal before or after your game. There is also a half-way house to get a quick bite or drink on the course as well.
