Nova Scotia is the epitome of Canadian paradise. There’s no need to leave the country to find a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy a vacation. The laid-back, east coast attitude makes this one of the best destinations to visit and disconnect from the hectic lifestyle. It’s time to get on maritime time!
Not only is Nova Scotia a fantastic place to visit, but it is also home to some of Canada’s most beautiful golf courses. Imagine spending the day golfing alongside the Atlantic Ocean at one of Canada’s award-winning golf courses. There are many great golf courses on the east coast, but some stand out above the others.
Here are the best Nova Scotia golf courses:
Links at brunello
Links at Brunello is an 18-hole, 7,158-yard course designed by Thomas McBroom, so you’ll find many of his trademark “bullnose” bunkers. It’s only a 15-minute drive from Halifax and features dramatic terrain with gorgeous views. The property is massive, with long stretches from hole to hole, so golf carts are mandatory on the course. Many holes begin on elevated tees, ending in raised greens with bentgrass fairways.
fox Harb’r
Fox Harb’r is home to an 18-hole, 7,205-yard course on Nova Scotia’s only five-star resort. This challenging oceanfront course contains a mix of traditional parkland-style golf and Scottish link-style, designed by Graham Cooke. The resort also has a golf academy, hunting lodges, on-site dining a spa and was created by the co-founder of Tim Hortons. The course record holder for Fox Harb’r? None other than Tiger Woods!
cape breton Highlands
Cape Breton Highlands was ranked the #5 public course in Canada last year, and it’s no surprise why. The 18-hole, par 72 course allows you to play through portions of Cape Breton National Park with beautiful views of the mountains, rivers, cliffs and the ocean. Because of the course routing, golfers get to experience massive diversity from hole to hole with dramatic elevation shifts.
cabot cliffs and cabot links
Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links might be the fourth on our list, but they aren’t the fourth in quality. In fact, these golf courses are ranked #1, and #3 in the entire country of Canada and are also regarded as two of the best golf courses on the planet. The resort itself also has 124 rooms and three restaurants, so you can stay and play right on site. Both courses are situated on the most breathtaking cliffs overlooking all of Cape Breton. It actually looks out of a postcard!
honourable mentions

Chester Golf Club – This seaside golf club is one of the most scenic you’ll find in the province, set outside the small rural town of Chester, Nova Scotia.
Bell Bay – Bell Bay is a challenging 18-hole course designed by Thomas McBroom that is located just outside the town of Baddeck on Cape Breton Island.
Le Portage – Hidden gem overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence, with all holes named after the area’s French-Acadian history.
