Nova Scotia Golf Packages and who They Fit
Nova Scotia is a driving province. Cabot Cape Breton sits in Inverness, roughly 3 hours 34 minutes from Halifax airport, and the trip out there is the reason most groups choose this province in the first place. Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs both rank among Canada’s top public courses, and demand is international, so tee times and rooms get booked a year or more in advance. Rounds at Cabot are walked rather than carted, which matters for groups with mixed mobility or anyone expecting 36 in a day.
The rest of Cape Breton gives the trip its depth. Cape Breton Highlands Links, the Stanley Thompson design at Ingonish, holds up as one of the country’s best public tracks, and Bell Bay near Baddeck is an early Tom McBroom design that groups consistently underrate. Basing at Inverary Resort in Baddeck puts Bell Bay, The Lakes and Highlands Links within reach, though each is a 60 to 80 minute drive from the resort. Keltic Lodge shortens the run to Highlands Links if your group would rather stay closer to the course.
Fox Harb’r on the Northumberland Strait runs on different terms. It sits 1 hour 29 minutes from Halifax airport, the accommodations and dining are the strongest of any golf resort in the region, and Doug Carrick and Tom McBroom are partway through rebuilding the golf into 36 holes across the Ocean and Vineyard courses. Groups pair it with Northumberland Links nearby. Halifax itself supports the shortest version of a Nova Scotia trip, with The Links at Brunello, McBroom’s course on the city’s western edge, plus Glen Arbour, a private Graham Cooke design we have access to for our groups, and the Marriott Harbourfront putting the waterfront, the restaurants and the casino outside the front door.
Nova Scotia works best for groups treating this as a once-in-a-decade trip, with at least six nights and a tolerance for spending some of them in the car.
PEI Golf Packages and who They Fit
PEI runs the opposite way. The Links at Crowbush Cove, McBroom’s oceanside design on the north shore, is 30 minutes from downtown Charlottetown. Dundarave, the Hurdzan and Fry course known for its red sand bunkers, is about 40 minutes east. Brudenell River, a Robbie Robinson design that has aged well, sits next door to Dundarave.
The Cavendish cluster is the part most groups miss when they research the island themselves. Green Gables (a Stanley Thompson layout later renovated by McBroom), Glasgow Hills, Andersons Creek and Eagles Glenn are all within a few kilometres of each other, which means a group can play four legitimate championship courses without a drive longer than 10 minutes between them.
Accommodation on the island splits two ways. Groups that want restaurants and live music at night base downtown at The Holman Grand, walking distance from the pubs on Victoria Row and a 12-minute drive from Charlottetown Airport. Groups that want the house to themselves take one of our vacation rentals, either the oceanfront Sea Dunes cottage five minutes from Crowbush or the New Glasgow pool house sitting on the 18th at Glasgow Hills, both five bedrooms with a five-night minimum.
PEI is the better call for groups of 8 to 16 who want maximum golf per day, one place to unpack, and a schedule that survives a rain delay without wrecking the rest of the week.
Drive Times Decide More Than Most Groups Expect
The numbers are what separate these two trips. In PEI, almost every course sits within 45 minutes of Charlottetown, so a four-round trip needs one hotel and no travel days. In Nova Scotia, Halifax to Cabot runs 3 hours 34 minutes, Cabot to Fox Harb’r runs 3 hours 20 minutes, and Fox Harb’r back to Halifax airport runs 1 hour 29 minutes. Those drives are scenic, and most groups enjoy them, but they consume golf days, and a five-night Nova Scotia trip built around Cabot realistically yields three or four rounds, whereas the same five nights in PEI yield four or five.

Combining Nova Scotia and PEI in One Trip
Groups with seven nights or more stop choosing. Fox Harb’r sits 2 hours 18 minutes from Charlottetown and 3 hours 20 minutes from Cabot, which makes it the connector between the two provinces. A common build runs three nights in Charlottetown with rounds at Crowbush and Dundarave, two or three nights at Fox Harb’r, then Cabot to finish, flying home out of Halifax. Groups flying in from the US often reverse it, hitting Cabot early while everyone is fresh for two walking rounds.
This version demands more planning than a single-province trip, since the resorts on the route release inventory on different schedules and the driving order determines which tee times are even possible.
Which Province Fits Your Group
Buddy groups doing an annual trip usually get more out of PEI, where the golf-to-driving ratio is highest and the nights in Charlottetown are easy to organize for 12 people. Corporate and client groups tend to land at Fox Harb’r or downtown Halifax, where the accommodation carries the trip, and the logistics stay simple.
